What's in a name? Mortlach 20 Year Old 1991 - Cask Strength Collection (Signatory) whisky is called whisky because it's produced in Scotland. Were it from America it would be spelled Mortlach 20 Year Old 1991 - Cask Strength Collection (Signatory) whiskey, rather than whisky.
Nose: Cocoa, prunes, kumquats, raisins and maybe even a little rancio.
Palate: Sultanas and malt, marmalade, chocolate cake and pepper.
Finish: Long and bittersweet with chocolate and spongecake.
Outstanding sherry matured whisky that isn't overly sweet.

Tasted several whiskies before picking this one as a gift; the scent made me think of dark caramel, the taste was smooth and buttery and warm, the finish left me smiling and thinking of chocolate dipped lady fingers. Great birthday gift!!
