Murray McDavid
Scotland
Single Malt
This was distilled at the Mortlach distillery in 1990, and it was then aged in bourbon casks before being finished in Premier Cru Leroy Vosna Romanee wine casks. This was bottled at the Bruichladdich distillery in 2009 for Murray McDavid's Mission Gold Series. A release of 608 bottles at natural cask strength.
Deep notes of caramelised sugar atop apple crumble, hints of sherried peels, redcurrant and black pepper. A touch of star anise, a little creamy sherry, and dried strawberries.
Sherbet lemon and strawberry on the palate, with porridge oat, creamy vanilla, a little cranberry juice and malt.
Decent length on the finish, trailing off with dried cranberries and cocoa.
