Nose: Swathes of vanilla, reams of leather and stacks of cedar wood. The aroma firmly states its presence without being brash and allows softer notes of liquorish and pear to have their moment.
Palate: Winter spices of cinnamon and nutmeg hold the foreground but classic Glenfiddich apples and pears lie in the wings ready to have their turn.
Finish: The whisky sweetens towards the end with vanilla and toffee, however the oak still presents itself confidently and the finish lasts long after the final sip.
Overall: If any whisky can hold the standard for high aging then this Glenfiddich certainly can. It spills flavour by the bucket load without overpowering itself, the finish is long and soft and at no point does it become musty and overly wooded.
