Edradour 2003 Ruby Port Cask Matured - Batch 1

This Edradour has been finished in Ruby Port casks and boasts big red fruit flavours.

Edradour is one of the smallest distilleries in Scotland but has a big following regardless!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Stewing red fruits, red jelly babies and red wine gums. Red really!

    Palate

The palate is very thick with dried strawberries and raspberries and a touch of spice.

    Finish

The finish is moderate with a wealth of exotic fruit on the tail-end.

    Overall

If you like your Edradours big and fruity this could be just your thing!

Having just visited the distillery a few weeks ago, I could drink motor oil and loved it. The story and the spirit of this tiny distillery is intoxicating enough! I don't have adjectives to describe.....why bother....magic maybe? Warm? It doesn't matter......get some!

George - Edradour (Ruby Port 2003)

Again tasted at the distillery in a comparison with the 10 year old. Interesting stuff and very enjoyable, though not as accomplished as the 12 year old in my opinion. Nose: You can definitely sense the port as it lurks in the murky background. Redcurrants and Strawberry notes are very apparent, struggling with toasty oak and creamy malt tones. Palate: Thick and strong, the mouth is filled with the flavours of redcurrants, strawberries and raspberries, a hint of cinnamon and cloves. Richness of toasted oak and barley compliments this surprisingly well. Finish of medium length with more berry flavours and a gentle spiciness. Reminded me of good old fashioned jam on buttered farmhouse toast.
