1825

This is probably the year when a distillery called Glenforres is founded by farmers in Perthshire.

1837

The first year Edradour is mentioned.

1841

The farmers form a proprietary company, John MacGlashan & Co.

1886

The American company J. G. Turney & Sons acquires Edradour through its subsidiary William Whitely & Co.

1922

William Whiteley buys the distillery in order to produce its own blended whiskies, among them King’s Ransom and House of Lords. The distillery is renamed Glenforres-Glenlivet.

1975

Pernod Ricard buys Campbell Distilleries.

1982

Campbell Distilleries (Pernod Ricard) buys Edradour and builds a visitors’ centre.

1986

Edradour’s first single malt (10 years) is released.

2002

Edradour is bought by Andrew Symington from Signatory Vintage Scotch Whisky for £5.4 million (£3 million consists of stocks). The product range is expanded in autumn with a 10 year old and a 13 year old cask strength. Iain Henderson, Distillery Manager at Laphroaig, becomes Director of Operations at Edradour.

2003

A 30 year old and a 10 year old that are non chill-filtered are released. As an experiment a heavily peated variety (50ppm) is also distilled.

2004

A number of wood finishes (port, sauternes, burgundy and chardonnay) are launched as cask strength.

2006

James McGowan becomes the new distillery manager. The first bottling of peated Ballechin is released.

2007

A Madeira matured Ballechin is released.

2008

A Ballechin matured in port pipes and a 10 year old Edradour with a Sauternes finish are released.
