Edradour Sassicaia Bottling Note
This was distilled at the Edradour distillery on the 19th November 1997 and it was initially matured in a hogshead before it was re-racked on the 2nd May 2007 into a Sassicaia hogshead. It was finally bottled on the 25th January 2010 as an outturn of 392 bottles. Sassicaia is considered to be the Italian version of Bordeaux style reds.
Nose: A bouquet of mixed conserves; particularly strawberry and plum, Strepsils and Maraschino cherry liqueur.
Palate: Sweet and thick with hints of blackcurrant concentrate and a curiously authentic note of cherry cola! Spicy, honeyed pepperiness reminiscent of a good tawny port.
Finish: Big, big on spices, and that rich cherry cola… Very interesting, hints of ginger.
