What's in a name? Dalmore 16 Year Old 1996 (cask 9816) - Old Malt Cask (Hunter Laing) whisky is called whisky because it's produced in Scotland. Were it from America it would be spelled Dalmore 16 Year Old 1996 (cask 9816) - Old Malt Cask (Hunter Laing) whiskey, rather than whisky.
This is a hot whisky and needs some water to settle down. For 16 years I expected a little more refinement but it just seems young and harsh. Their are decent fruits notes, most notably oranges and a bit of chocolate (Jaffa Cakes). However, it remains a tad harsh.
