Caol Ila 1980 Old & Rare Bottling Note

A beautiful single cask, 30 year old Caol Ila from Douglas Laing's wonderful Old and Rare Platinum Selection. This was distilled in November 1980, and it was matured in a refill hogshead before bottling in August of 2011 at natural cask strength.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Hints of pepper and tropical fruits. Some passion fruit, guava and maybe even some mango too, alongside mint leaves, barley and toffee.

Palate: Digestive biscuits, spicy oak, quite tannic and gripping, hints of green plums, camomile and honey.

Finish: Fruity and spiced.
