The Handlebar: Historically worn with pride on the top lips of some of the greatest and most legendary members of the armed forces, the Handlebar, is a particularly thick upper lip covering, with protruding graspable extremities, usually waxed to perfection. When on a recent exchange posting, a respected and superbly moustached RAF Lieutenant clashed with the US Air Force rulebook, which forbids such impressive growth to adorn the lips of their officers. Fortunately, common sense prevailed and the classic British ‘stiff upper lip’ ruled the day.  More info
