A single estate expression from Camus (the Cognac house, not the absurdist author), made with eaux-de-vie from a single estate in the Borderies cru - the smallest of the Cognac regions, renowned for producing nutty, floral, aromatic Cognac. This VSOP certainly has some of those characteristics, and it's really rather excellent indeed.
Soft cedar, orange oil, Brazil nut leading into vanilla blossom and butterscotch.
I tasted apples, like calvados. Delicious
As a newish cognac appreciater, my review is probably not the normal,so apologies. My first Camus borderies vsop.I placed the bottle on the table, just admiring the lava lamp look. Then dropped two fingers worth into my Glencairn glass, which works for me. A gentle sniff aroused my mouth with a kaleidoscope of aromas. Then a small sip,and waited for it to dance towards the back of my tongue. So many flavours, which I still struggle to filter and identify. It warmed, and overwhelmed my taste buds, then settled, leaving slightly oily residueWith the last finger full,I added two finger of ginger ale,and just enjoyed the moment. To sum up,a true gentleman's tipple.Does it get any better for an apprentice cognac 'er.What other adventures await in this club.Packaged really well.Just good old service, thanks MOM
An elegant full complexity cognac. One of the best VSOP I ever tried. Will never disappoint. A wonderful drink.
