5 year old single malt whisky from the ever-versatile Zuidam Distillers in the Netherlands, matured in Bourbon and Oloroso Sherry casks.
Rather nutty on the nose - walnuts, salted peanuts and even some sweet, crunchy peanut brittle too. White pepper develops alongside coffee beans. A little hint of pear and banana come through after a couple minutes in the glass.
Creamier than the nose might suggest, with vanilla, caramel and salted butter at its core. Lightly toasted (and buttered) bread. Grows quite malty as it goes on.
The white pepper from the nose returns for the finish, joined by plenty of juicy sultana notes.

A slight alcohol burn on the lips and tongue initially, then followed by a smooth and buttery cream texture on the palate that develops beautifully into a complex and balanced richness, not a Laphroaig or Lagavulin but a very pleasant malt for its price
Too rough around the edges to be considerd smooth. Has a dry kick at the end.Good 5-year old nonetheless.
