Becoming Scotland's northernmost mainland whisky producing distillery when it released its first single malt in March 2016, Wolfburn is built just 350m away from the ruins of the 19th century distillery from which it takes its name. With long fermentation, slow manual distillation and maturation taking place at least partly in quarter casks that previously held peated whisky from Islay, this is a release we've eagerly anticipated!
Orchard fruits, apple pie, a fresh maltiness, almonds, magnolia and a suggestion of smoke
Honey Nut Clusters breakfast cereal, sweet spices, chocolate croissant, more honey towards the end, and a subtle earthy peatiness.
Long and fresh, with even more rich honey notes
A deliciously complex single malt from one of Scotland’s newer distilleries - they are hitting it out of the park!

A mixed bag of reviews. I'd say some seem to know their stuff more than others? Of course it's down to personal preference and palate, but this most certainly doesn't deserve any bad reviews. This dram isn't trying to be anything other than what it states. It's N. A. S. We can taste its young but why should that be an issue? I'm at odds with the M.O.M boys tasting notes this time. Not apples for me, more pineapple, melon and grape. The finish is short as you'd expect for a three year old, but it's complexity it's exstemly clever stuff. This to me is a spring time snifter, full of the promise to come. Young fresh and vibrant.
Excellent!!?
I discovered this purely by chance recently at my local, which stocks an impressive array of spirits. Someone had ordered it and I was immediately struck by its almost colourless appearance. So I ordered one... and liked what I tasted. Accordingly, I've looked it up and I agree with one or two comments posted that the price is too high. At a time when better-known brands are having to lower their prices to be affordable, this is too costly. Were it as sensibly priced as they are, I would have no hesitation in buying several bottles.
Much too young, just sharp. Tasted it in a restaurant, that was enough.
For me it strikes all the right notes. slightly mellow, slightly smokey, slightly peaty.
