Aerstone 10 Year Old Land Cask

Here we have the counterpart to William Grant's Aerstone Sea Cask, it's Land Cask! As you can probably deduce, if Sea Cask was matured in warehouses on the coast, this variant is aged in warehouses located much further inland. Another point of difference is that Land Cask is a smoky single malt thanks to the use of Highland peat, making for a sweet and smoky dram.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Earthy peat smoke and vanilla pod, with a briney note, black pepper, smoked meats and burnt rubber, with just a touch of fresh fruity sweetness.

    Palate

Balanced sweet and smoky notes, with aniseed, burnt brown sugar, charred oak and salted honeycomb. Then there's olive brine, barbecued citrus fruit and smoked meats.

    Finish

Sweet and smoky battle it out on the finish, with vanilla fudge and peat smoke alongside dry, spicy oak.

    Awful stuff

Awful stuff. Acrid burnt rubber and pungent sulphur. And not in a "man I love Laphroaig" kind of way.

    Great staff

This is delicious and a new favorite Lots of smoke, peat , burned rubber Reach and oily if you’re a peat head this dram is a must , with unbelievable price for a 10 years peated single malt ... here in Oz can’t find any better for example even double black is more expensive Great work grants family, this is a great whisky , I’m happy to have your bottle if you are disappointed

Sweet, peaty, strong character and warming

Quite nice! It is strong, but perfect for those who like a strong peat kick. For the price I think it's hard to find something that quite matches it. Over here in aus, most whiskies of decent quality start around 80, this one sits at 60 but with an age statement

    Beautiful stuff!

Loving it , it’s taste slightly odd at the start , almost artificial smoke flavor, as the bottle go down , it’s open beautifuly , sweet Peat , creamy ,very smoky, dried fruit , ash pretty long finish , remind me Ardmore traditional cask, big pack of flavour .if you are a peat peak /sow

    Hums of a failed experiment

Nowadays we're spoilt for choice when it comes to Scotch offerings, people can be critical within the context of things not being as good as other 'integrity' expressions but rarely do you find a release that is genuinely bad. This Land Cask is genuinely bad. It hums of a failed experiment, distillery/producer getting rid of stock not suitable to release under their real branding. Save yourself the trouble.
