Another wonderful rye whiskey from the equally wonderful Willett Distillery! After it's distilled over in Kentucky, the liquid was aged in new charred white oak barrels for the entirety of its four years. Eventually, it was bottled at cask strength, a warming 56.4% ABV. An outstanding rye whiskey that proves great value for money.
Aromas of Bakewell tart and cherry jam, with toasty oak, cinnamon, and salted caramel.
Wonderfully chewy with a big hit of rye spice, burnt vanilla custard, and velvety, melted dark chocolate.
More tart cherry returns alongside a touch of banana, rounded off by a wave of oak spice.

This is a excellent pour with an intensity just like barrel proof should be. If you don't like the taste of rye this is not for you. It is the best rye I have tasted and it is much better than Pikesville and cheaper.
Taste it neat 1st then I add 8ml water per 25ml. Hi rye so funky & spicy as expected but without being fusile at all, drinks way lower thatn it's abv suggests. I like the menthol/whintergreen thing it has goin on. Will def revisit this 1 on my journey at some point.
An absolute belting rye! One of those bottles to replace with no second thoughts.
Agree entirely with the tasting notes provided by MOM on this - absolute quality stuff, really enjoying my bottle, will definitely buy again.
