A classic blend made up of 41 different whiskies. Whyte and Mackay special is a great mixer.
Gets an extra star for being unbelievably good value, you can pick it up in supermarkets for under £15. Very drinkable on its own or with a little water and ice, it won't blow you away so would have given 3 stars. I tend to use it with mixers, cocktails etc. Where it works very well!
I love a good smooth malt. I also take cheap blends between periods of celebration. This is the best by a long chalk. Reminiscent of some less good malts. But eminently drinkable without water!
This and Grant's are in my opinion the best of the cheap blends. This is full flavoured but smooth. Doesn't need water. I doubt whether anyone could find anything offensive about this and at £13 from the supermarket this was great value.
On the nose vanilla,custard,some cinnamon and a touch of breakfast tea.Taste : creamy,melasses,crème brûlée a bit of mint and some coffee in the background. It's not complex but has a lot of flavour and very good ex sherry casks where used.With some cream and dried fruit in the finish a very nice blend indeed.I picked up a liter bottle for as little as € 16,50 at 43 % proof.A very good blend for a splendid price.
