Whyte and Mackay Special Blended Scotch Whisky 70cl
Whyte and Mackay Special Blended Scotch Whisky
A classic blend made up of 41 different whiskies. Whyte and Mackay special is a great mixer.

have been drinking blends for years and this is one of my favourites (I can only afford Balvinnie once a year). It sounds as though the last reviewer has been given a bottle of Delhi special brew made from sugar in the forgery factories of India.
I generally drink blends as I unfortunately can not afford single malts, so I am not comparing this with an expensive whisky. I was given a bottle of this for Christmas and I had to give it away to a friend. The aroma is heavy molasses/treacle/burnt sugar. The taste is not much different. tastes like sugar syrup with some alcohol added to it. VERY sickly sweet, no other flavours discernable, just pure burnt sugar. If you like whisky that is cloyingly sweet and has no other flavours then this is the one for you. There are some far better blends out there, even Famous grouse is ten times more potable than this travesty of a whisky. With a good measure of spring water it is drinkable but has no taste at all beyond synthetic caramel.
The nicest whisky I have ever drank
I think single malts are basically a con, their superiority is a myth and a decent blended whisky can offer just as rewarding an experience. Whyte and Mackay is certainly a rewarding drink - smooth with an hint of caramel and a dark rustic flavour. I like this one. Like it a lot. Very good indeed.
My favorite blended scotch, but you need to let it sit for a couple of minutes after pouring. Right after pouring it has an almost tequila-like taste/smell. After a couple minutes it will mellow out and be delicious!
