Sponge cake topped with buttercream icing, chocolate chip cookies, a whiff of savoury oak.
Red berry sweetness jumps out right away - raspberry, raisin and cherry notes. Drying cinnamon and nutmeg, joined by a hint of anise.
Honeyed cereal, white wine, mint leaf, dark chocolate.
Pricey? Yes. Commiting sacrilege for many by its strength? Yes. But this rye is truly gorgeous. Has probably ruined me for some other whiskys now. An absolute delight.
Wow. I bought a sample of this and was blown away. I'm not usually all that great at picking out specific flavours but you really can taste cherry and raspberry in this. It's fairly smooth and incredibly tasty, especially if left to breathe for a while. I think I've found my new favourite dram.
My god .what a lovely drink warm on the throat and goes down a treat .worth every penny.
I love Rye, but this one with the different finishes is so impressive!
Not quite as light & bright as the 10 yr, but it is a little softer & sweeter with a good bit more caramel flavor on the front of the tongue - definitely creamier in texture.
