From indie bottler Wemyss Malts' Batch Strength series comes the second release of The Hive bottling. A selection of Scotch single malts were chosen for their sweet characters, creating a particularly honeyed blended malt. Only 9,000 bottles were released at 55.5% ABV.
Runny honey on hot buttered toast with a sprinkle of cinnamon, with juicy oranges and stone fruit. Bread and butter pudding with a dollop of custard.
Floral orange blossom bursts open, alongside orange oil and beeswax with honeyed oats. Mouthcoating indeed.
Oodles of honeycomb which eventually dissipate for a clean and refreshing finish.
A lovely blended malt. Adding some water really brings out the honeyed sweetness. I also enjoyed the Wemyss 12YO Spice King. Looking forward to trying some of their other malts. 5-stars!
