Robustly spicy and aromatic blended malt Scotch whisky from Wemyss Malts, bottled as part of the Batch Strength series. A selection of superbly spicy single malts has been expertly chosen and blended, then further matured in sherry hogsheads to add even more spice before being bottled at batch strength.
A grand helping of aromatic spices, namely cinnamon, nutmeg and anise alongside wood spice, new leather and a touch of salted caramel.
Slightly burnt brown sugar, more salted caramel and oodles of ginger and orange peel, with a hint of orange pith. Spicy pepper tingles on the tongue.
Butterscotch, wood char and burnt caramel with a good crack of black pepper heat.

The key component here is “batch strength”. I’m not a fan of blended whiskeys, because, well, it’s easy to hide imperfections when you blend everything together. But this one is indeed tasty and spicy. Not something I would probably buy for myself, but interesting nevertheless.
Lives up to its name. Light and smooth initially with a big spice hit afterwards.
My summary says it all. Yes, there is some spice on the nose and there is a tingle of spice on the finish but not as much as I was hoping for / expecting. That said, this is a very pleasant summer sipper and bought in the Flash Sale for £37.75 I'm not complaining!
Definitely, the spices come out in the aroma and taste. Front of tongue flavor . This is a Christmas season Scotch.
