The Peat Chimney blended malt Scotch whisky is a warming, subtly coastal expression from Wemyss Malts. It's not an in-your-face blast of peat - Peat Chimney focuses on the elegantly smoky side of things, with a good balance between the sweet and savoury notes you can catch in peated whiskies. Very handsome stuff, this is.

I do not usually buy blends but when this showed up at the shop I work at for $40 I figured what the hell I need more peaty whisky anyways. I guess for something called Peat Chimney I was expecting a bit more peat. It's pretty sweet lots of caramel ( both color and flavor), not as briny or oily as I would've hoped for, I can definitely tell that most of the malt used did not come from Islay. At the end of the day it's essentially Finnlaggan bottled at a higher proof for twice the price. I'll just stick with Finnlaggan next time I think. Cheers! The Sugarbear
Lovely peatyness with salty caramel finish,
