Lord Elcho is a delicious blended whisky which was named after the 5th Earl of Wemyss who was stripped of his title after the Battle of Culloden, before being forced into exile in France. The blend itself is particularly good and very malty indeed.
Gingernut biscuits and vanilla cream. Hints of toffee apples, porridge oats and nutmeg. It develops on furniture polish and cooked fruit.
Spiced and malty with notes of cocoa butter and sandalwood. Hints of chocolate, salt caramel and custard.
Malt-driven finish with notes of spice on the tail.
Pretty close to perfect............
This one will surprise you, one of the best blends in my book..... Worth every penny.
The tasting notes are very accurate, at least to my nose and palate - this is sublime stuff indeed. Thick, tatsy, rich and satisfying - deep fruit, vanilla, chocolate and cocoa - and a slightly spicy finish. Not to be missed.
I don't have as refined a nose and palate as the chaps at MOM, but I concur on the biscuity notes, I detect the nutmeg. I was also surprised that something in this price range would have such a nice, lingering, finish. Very happy with this one, yes.
