Single malt whisky from a secret Islay distillery that's spent a finishing period in casks that previously held Sherry and bottled at 46% abv. The whisky takes its name from the seat of the Lords of the Isles and of Clan Donald at the castle on Loch Finlaggan.
Mixed fresh berries and nuts, sticking plasters and medicinal peat smoke.
Sweet smoke, warming, black pepper, raisins and sultanas.
Long with hints of dried herbs and spice.
Much too strong! Too much alcochol - this is Fire Water! It burns the tongue and mouth. Better buy a good single malt of 40° than this
Smells fudge and taste smoke
Wonderful dram, warming at 46% but not overpowering, delicate smoke flavour initially, then sweet caramel and raisin flavours, and a hint of cinnamon on the finish. The sherry finish seems to leave a little more sweetness than I would look for in a perfect whiskey, thus not 10/10, but my taste runs towards the rougher end of scotches, so you can make of that what you will. If you like a smooth and sweet whiskey with spice and smoke flavours, then I think you will enjoy this.
Peaty
I try it and for me i think is Lagavulin...the Port finish smell and taste like caol ila...
