Uncle Nearest 1856 Premium Whiskey is produced in Tennessee using a combination of corn and rye, and is put through the Lincoln County Process before being aged in new American oak barrels. Currently it's produced by two local distilleries as the brand's own whiskey ages. The name honours Nathan Green, who was known as Uncle Nearest to friends and family, and was the first African-American master distiller on record in the USA. It's from Uncle Nearest that a particular Jack Daniel was taught about distilling was back in the mid-1800s. Nathan 'Nearest' Green is undoubtedly a figure who was vitally important to whiskey history.
Buttery vanilla and brown sugar, mixed with soft sultana and cinnamon sweetness.
Caramelised nuts, oat cookies, more brown sugar, sandalwood, authentic corn hints and a hint of cut grass.
Lingering mint leaf and milk chocolate notes, with a final touch of spicy oak.
Actually, this is a review on 1884 93 proof small batch. A good degree of complexity, smooth, with a most excellent flavour. Puts Angel envy to shame. Will be trying the entire line.

This whiskey is incredible. Tasted it at imbibe and asked for a bottle for Xmas. The best American whiskey I’ve ever had the pleasure of.
A lovely pour and at £50-£55 perfect. Similar processed used as with the Jack Daniel's single barrel. I don't understand the scathing negative reviews below but I guess different strokes for different folks. A sourced whiskey and lashings of butterscotch, maple syrup and spicey notes. Probably on my 10th bottle.
Good, solid Tennessee product. mellow, enjoyable, but nothing jumps out and says "buy me a lot."
