Tyrconnell Irish Whiskey has had a redesign, complete with a stylish new label and a bumped-up ABV of 43% (compared to the original's 40%). It remains a satisfying Irish single malt whiskey, packed to the brim with vanilla and honey notes.
Melted butter, honeyed cereal and a touch of orange pith.
Rich vanilla and soft fudge, with a touch of granary toast underneath.
Lingering nutmeg spiciness and a touch of drying oak.
The tasting notes sounded great, but I was disappointed that the main taste was pear drops, a smell I don't particularly like. The aftertaste and finish is pleasant, but overall I didn't like it. The only other Irish whiskey I've had is Bushmills matured in rum flasks; that was much nicer.
This is a lovely, smooth whisky with decent length on the palate and a real step up from the blended whiskies under £30. It's great value for money compared to other single malts, so can see this becoming firm favourite
Solid and great value for money. Honey an butter on toast. But, why the artifical colouring?
Preferred this to the Green Spot Irish Whisky and its £10 cheaper so value for money
I love Irish whiskeys, they are usually sweet and easy to drink, Tyrconnell is not so sweet as most others and considerably more citrusy. No harshness at all, a lovely drink.
