A single malt Irish whiskey from the Cooley distillery, Tyrconnell is incredibly creamy and smooth.
Sweet and crisp with orchard fruits and a malty character. Oaked dryness and an oily note.
Full and sweet with barley malt and hot buttered granary toast with honey.
Dry and grassy with a little spice.
In taste, I found this similar to a basic Speyside whisky. Nothing in it is objectionable, yet it's more interesting than the Bushmills 10 I tried a few days ago. I'd be happy to have a bottle on my shelf at home.
Is based on Price. Having said that, at any price you'd be hard-pressed to find a better dram of whiskey, from any country, single malt or blended. Sweet, fruity and smooth, nice gentle accents of rich oak. Surprisingly satisfying creamy, coconut finish. If you want to try another exceptional Tyrconnell, they have special cask finishes of Madeira, Sherry and Port as well that are about twice this price, yet still worth every penny (especially the Madeira IMO).
All reviews so far (not just on this site) miss the coconut taste I get clear in the middle. This is not a lightweight, it is a really good dram, and really worth a tasting.

Dudes and Dames of the Drinking world, I regularly splurge on high-end scotch, whiskey, rye, tequila, etc. You would have to pay nearly twice this much to get this good a bottle of dram. This compares in flavor and quality to a Johnny Walker Gold Label or a Bushmills Red Label 16 year, each at least double in price of the Tyrconnell. There was one more bottle on the shelf at my local liquor store, and I'm headed back tomorrow to buy it before someone else does.
