A single malt Irish whiskey from the Cooley distillery, Tyrconnell is incredibly creamy and smooth.
Sweet and crisp with orchard fruits and a malty character. Oaked dryness and an oily note.
Full and sweet with barley malt and hot buttered granary toast with honey.
Dry and grassy with a little spice.

Never rated the review I wrote above but 5 out of 5 is about right!
As an avid fan of Irish single malts I thought Tyrconnel would be just another duty free wannabe - boy was I wrong. This is a top class drink, incredibly tasty and smooth. I think I just made a life-long buddy!
The smell is divine (think rosewater, violets, confectionary, baked fruit). But the taste not good at all: cutting, short lived, and faintly reminiscent of engine oil. Kilbeggan is far better than it.
The palette experience doesn’t compare with the nose, which is fresher, more complex, and fragrant. But the contrast is fascinating. The nose is filled with an array of fine candied fruits, strong floral notes, and fresh confectionary (think turkish delight with a drizzle of acacia honey); whereas the palette is dry, cutting, even upstaging. The whole experience makes it worthy of five stars. Try it!
I have been a fan of Jamesons (especialy to 12yo and 18yo) for years, but got a bottle of this for my birthday. I reckon it is better than the Jamesons 12yo and a darn sight cheaper. A winner :)
