Adorned with golden detailing, Tullibardine Sovereign is a delicious creamy single malt which was aged in first-fill bourbon barrels before bottling. Expect plenty of vanilla and spice from this Highland Dram.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Soft vanilla and cocoa butter on the nose. White chocolate, allspice and charred oak.

Palate: A little mixed peel with notes of pear cider, allspice and creamy chocolate. A core of rich malt with hints of maple syrup.

Finish: Spiced, creamy finish. Plenty of vanilla and cinnamon.

Overall: A creamy whisky from some truly delicious casks!

Tullibardine Sovereign Reviews

Fine at £25, but average at that price.

Bought at £25 (discount)

Disappointed with this one, I have to say. I'd had the 225 Sauternes a few weeks earlier and really quite enjoyed it (also at £25 discount). Reviews here of the Sorvereign were fairly positive so I gave it a punt. It's worth £25, but no more in my opinion.

It's a mild, pale dram. First impressions (from smell) promised a tasty drop, but on the palate no complexity or subtlety at all. No notable finish that I could discern. Fine I think for a nip here and there, but I wouldn't wholeheartedly recommend it to another on this basis even at £25.

Not what was expected

I bought this as a gift on 5th Oct 2022 in Newcastle and was at the opening on the same day. There were none of the characteristics featured in the web description and it was notable only for the higher strength (43%). As a party drink it passed unnoticed. However, to the regular single malt drinkers it fell flat and some thought that it had been adulterated. As a party drink OK but not for a single malt drinkers evening.

Subtle fresh and very morish

I've driven past this distillery many a time on my way to Aberdeen and often though I should try, well I finally did my first experience with tullibardine but will absolutely not be my last. I did get it on offer but would have been just as happy if I'd paid full. This does taste young but not in the incomplete brash way but in a vibrant youthful exuberance joy of life way. Everything about it is subtle but nothing I'd muted the nose is fresh and enticing fresh apples and pears with a hint of floral, a touch of honey sweetness and a crisp sharpness not sour just fresh and a subtle note of varnish if you can imagine standing in an orchard next to a boat yard. The palette is much the same everything is subtle and complementary nothing over powers it all blends perfectly. I drink a lot of high proofs and while this is definitely not it does drink hotter than its 43 but stays smooth. I didn't get much vanilla or cream and the Burbon influences were hard to pick out all though if you breath through your mouth I did get an soft aniseed/ liquorice not. I personally wouldn't mix with ginger but I get the summer precceco comment. I did add a few drops of water halfway just to see and it killed it dead for me it needs nothing. It does have a very short finish but is so morish and easy to drink who cares just have a order sip. Definitely recommend definitely buy again definitely try more in the range

A very different experience.

In contrast to the reviews below, my bottle tastes awful. Not smooth, not creamy, but a horrible alcohol sharpness instead, with no further depth or finish. After letting the whisky oxidize for 3 to 6 months, I poured a glass and started picking up nicer notes and the drink was a lot smoother, but the next glass I poured was bad again. I have never regretted buying a whisky, except for this one. Perhaps my bottle is the odd one out, but I would not recommend anyone to try this.

Very easy to sip neat and amazing value

I had previously tried Tullibardine 500 and loved it. I just had to try this one and it really is something else. Very easy to sip neat with amazing flavours and finish.

A must buy

This is a really good dram ,so creamy and smooth with a subtle tangy finish ,I think this is down to the casks and the water used ,speaking of water this doesn't need any ,bravo tullibardine ..bravo .

Oh yea!

A beautiful whisky, in awe.
Found on offer at £25 thought it would be like sauternes. No, no, no, far superior. For supermarket fare torn between this, Talisker 10, and Bunnahabhain.

Liquid Gold!

One of, if not, the best value whisky’s I've tried, but don’t let the price put you off, this is an exceptional whisky. I find a taste of dark chocolate with cream, not so sweet as the Sauternes but more character.
