An edition of Tullibardine's The Murray single malt from its Marquess Collection, this time finished in casks that previously held Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine. The legendary AOC with a mouthful of a name, Châteauneuf-du-Pape is home to some incredible wines, and now Tullibardine's tasty whisky has been allowed to slumber in some of its casks, helping to impart vibrant fruity notes.
Brown sugar and vine peach, with strawberry bonbons in tow.
Brandied cherry and cut cedar. Touches of clove heat simmer behind more summer berry sweetness.
Lingering notes of strawberry laces and Nice biscuits.

As a fan of CDP and single malt scotch this is a brilliant combination. Wonderful colour, long finish that has notes of CDP at first and lingers like a vanilla ice cream cone that is not overly sweet. Smooth all the way through, alcohol % is perfect, and this is 5 stars all the way from me. Tullibardine is one of the hidden gems of Highland single malts.
I bought this based on my delight of the 228, which is a truly tasty number for those who enjoy burgundy flavored dramage. Given The Murray spent time with my favourite red, Ms C du P, my excitement levels heightened somewhat! Sadly, this dram didn't quite deliver my exceptation, more wood than pape, not the same instant hit of redness as 228, not the colour I expected. Its a nice soft warm dram, just lacks the taste and depth of its marriage partner.
