The wonderful Tullamore D.E.W. has gone and finished its original blend of pot still, malt and grain Irish whiskeys in first fill Caribbean rum casks which previously held Demerara rum. As well as being a taste sensation, the expression pays tribute to the role that Irish immigrants played in the development of rum in the Caribbean back in the 17th century. Having always loved the Standard D.E.W Sherry cask for it's great taste and value This rum cask addition was a must try.To Me the taste is sweet spiced caramel and the extra ABV 43% Is noticable.I think Tullamore has got this version again spot on for taste and value.This will be a must buy for Me every so often alongside the always great standard D.E.W.
Having been a Tullamore whiskey AKA Uisce Beatha as Tullach Mhór fan for many a year I was wondering what this new blend might be like.After the first sip all that vanished..now am totally enamoured and will be ordering many a future bottle
Having regular Tullamore Dew to hand for an AvsB taste test is a must. The caramel notes are predominant throughout the tasting experience of the rum cask and the higher ABV is so aubtly notable. What was a great bang-for-buck Irish becomes a little sweeter and more rounded in a brilliant way.
