The 'D.E.W.' in Tullamore D.E.W. comes from the initials of a General Manager at the Tullamore distillery in the later 19th Century, named Daniel E. Williams.
Fruity and biscuity. There are gristy notes with caramel and toffee sweetness and plenty of peels.
Good body with notes of sherried peels and spice, granary toast with butter and honey, grains and vanilla cream.
Quite vegetal and long with notes of caramel and toffee.
£6.12 - £56.95
A little bland on the nose, big blast of nuttiness or biscuit which fades away quite quickly leaving an underwhelming finish.
I think this is a beautiful whiskey..smooth but with a kick at the end. And also in its effect..lol I drink my whisky straight with ice and was really surprised how hard this hit me.. I have been drinking scotch whiskey for 35 years.. I moved over to Irish whisky trying Jaimeson about a year ago and got hooked..thought I'd try something different. This is as good..not as smooth but certainly hits you as hard.. if not harder just my thoughts
A wee bit sweet for my liking but otherwise perfect. Quite complex synergy of flavours. The heat is just right. No harshness. Vanilla and toffee I get but in a real whiskey, not some kind of liqueur. Smooth and well balanced. Good value too.
Of the Irish casual whiskeys, this is the best. Sweeter that Jameson, but not too sweet, and less sweet than the more sugary paddy's. Very smooth, and a rich aroma, it goes well with a drop or two of water. Do not mix it though, it is lost within soda's.
To me this whiskey just tastes so sweet I could barely recognise it as whiskey. What’s nice about it is that there’s also barely any burn (at least for me).
