Gordon & MacPhail
Scotland
Single Malt
A cask strength bottling from Gordon and MacPhail, distilled at Tormore in 1994, bottled at cask strength. 1994 also saw a change of direction for prog band Dream Theater, who moved in a heavier direction with their acclaimed album 'Awake'.
The nose is quite light and fresh. There are notes of cut grasses and stemmy hay, cut petals and resin with notes of notes of oily woods, hints of heather honey and a touch of chamomile and rooibus tea. There are some black pepper notes emerging from the oak. The palate is of medium-body and very smooth. There are notes of marmalade and tulip stems, hints of pine oils with their requisite resinous character. Notes of lemon zest and hints of acacia honey. The finish is quite long and smooth.
Why the dream theater reference? Did the writer of the bottling note get bored!?
