    Single Malt

    Tomintoul Tlàth

Pronounced 'Tlah', Tlàth means gentle and/or mellow. With Tomintoul known as 'the gentle dram', this particular expression is along the same easy-going Speysider lines and is matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels.

    Tasting Note by The Producer

    Nose

Quintessentially Speyside. Light, with some sweet toffee and vanilla and hints of mint leaf and citrus peel.

    Palate

Light and creamy. Lively white pepper and some oak-driven spiciness dance on the tongue with background layers of nutmeg and toasted vanilla.

    Finish

Spicy with notes of shortbread and fresh mint.

    Smooth and drinkable

A really light, smooth and easily drinkable malt. Perfect introduction to the delights of whisky drinking. Tomintoul is known as the gentle dram and this is an excellent example

    Value for money malt.

In my opinion an above average dram. Smooth and light. Not comparable to Glenfiddich or Glenmorangie but I would recommend as a good introduction to malt whisky at a very good price.

    Good, but no cigar

I recently posted a review stating 'Best value for money, EVER!' Well, it is still good value, but then, possibly foolishly, I took it upon myself to have a tasting alongside a Glenfiddich 15 Old Solero; Glenlivet 18; a Glenmorangie 18 and a Hibiki Master's Select (which you can sadly no longer get). I'm afraid to say this paled next to the others - it's so very light 'Gentle' doesn't come close, and comparing Speyside against Speyside, maybe I shouldn't compare it to the 18-year-olds at three times the price, but the Glenfiddich 15 is certainly worth paying the extra for.

    A very decent whiskey

A very enjoyable whiskey, is amazingly smooth and very drinkable. Pleasantly surprised for the price

    Best value for money, EVER!

I bought a bottle of this as I wanted something cheap for when the kids were stressing me out rather than draining my nicer and far more expensive bottles. If you're a fan of Speyside whiskies as I am, you'll love this. On first taste it's very light, but, frankly, that's about the worst thing I can say about it. For the cost of this, I dare you to find something better for anywhere near this price - and it's that value that makes this 5 stars for me.
