Sherry

This limited edition single malt from Speyside's Tomintoul distillery was distilled in 2009 and spent 14 years maturing. After an initial stint in American oak bourbon casks, the whisky was treated to a finish in a host of Pedro Ximénez sherry quarter casks sourced by master distiller Robert Fleming before it was bottled at 46% ABV, without added colour or chill filtration.
Rich, sweet layers of nutty maple, prunes, and dates, with chocolate fudge and fragrant oak in tow.
All the richness from the nose carries through, with dark chocolate truffles, maple and pecan plaits, spiced sultanas, and earthy notes of roasted nuts and coffee in the depths.
Warming, sweet layers of baking spice, chocolate-coated coffee beans and nuts.

This a big sherry cask Tomintoul. If you are a fan of sherry finishes you will enjoy it!
Everything in the tasting notes is there but in overwhelming quantity. I was excited reading the notes as I have a sweet tooth yet found myself overpowered by the sticky sweetness of this whisky. Taste would be 3* but the price means it's down to 2* for me.
