Enjoy some Tomatin single malt Scotch whisky presented at cask strength - a generous 57.5% ABV. Introduced in early 2015, this is the first cask strength bottling to join Tomatin's core range, and is matured in a combination of bourbon and Oloroso Sherry casks. With their range growing more and more, it's certainly exciting days for the distillery in the Highlands.
bourbon vanilla creamy mouthfeel leads to spices and a nice finish. plenty going on in this after a small amount of water to open it. smooth and yet rich too.. plenty sherry on the nose and its helping this along without overpowering it. Im a big fan of Tomatin and this does not disappoint.. Fabulous dram!!! struth
Butter. Full stop. Yes it has a bit of bite to it, it is 115 proof. However, there is so much butter on the nose and the palate that this is one of my favorite whiskies. It's so buttery that it borders on funky cheese. Very distinct whisky. The 12 and 18 year old versions have some of the butter aroma and taste, but the cask strength is so dramatic with it that it is well worth searching for. So sad the one bottle I found is already gone.
A perfectly smooth malt with a very long and spicy finish. However, I personally found the smell of alcohol to be overwhelming and not particularly pleasant. For me it is slightly better neat but I would not buy again
Absolutely superb whisky from Tomatin. Although it is cask strength, this whisky is ever so smooth and subtle. Plenty of sweetness and a very smooth dram indeed. I added some water to open it up but the reality is that it is so delicious you wouldn't need anything at all.
A gorgeous cask strength single malt. Drop in 3 ice cubes and this beauty comes alive with vanilla shortbread on the nose with a silky palate of floral and candies notes. Smooth finish.
