Enjoy some Tomatin single malt Scotch whisky presented at cask strength - a generous 57.5% ABV. Introduced in early 2015, this is the first cask strength bottling to join Tomatin's core range, and is matured in a combination of bourbon and Oloroso Sherry casks. With their range growing more and more, it's certainly exciting days for the distillery in the Highlands.
Opens with home-made ice-cream drizzled with caramel and crushed walnuts, then moves on to Seville orange, red berries and black pepper.
Crystallised ginger, green apple and a touch of salty sea air. Sweet chocolate and cooking spices, growing intense on the mid-palate.
Lasting notes of vanilla pod and crumbly fudge.
I was gifted this bottle and my goodness it is awesome. Superb taste profile with amazing ABV. highly recommended !!
It's a really tasty and sweet dram that begs to be drunk, but that cask strength badge comes with a little burn in the aftertaste. Savour the flavour, and don't gulp it down.
Bought as a little treat to myself a few weeks ago. From reading tasting notes to reading reviews just had to try for myself. Thanks guys ???
I bought a bottle of this at the Tomatin Distillery on July 2nd 2023, 5 days ago while doing a loop of the UK in a VW Transporter Camper. We came home early today as one of our Fur persons has a very sore and swollen foot after an accident at Dornoch Beach in the Highlands. We left Ayr at 10:30am this morning and arrived home in Bedfordshire at 21:00 this evening and decided to have a taste of this thinking it was going to be rocket fuel. How mistaken could we be, it is Amazing. Sweet syrup, then a chilli, pepper hit, mellowing down to xmas cake with marzipan and a salty sea lapping at your tongue. 100% recommended.
Being a newbie to whisky, I find it difficult to describe all the flavours as you would find in tasting notes, but one thing I can tell, this is my favourite dram, a little water and it goes down a treat, I need to order more soon! It’s a lovely lovely whisky, and a good price for Cask Strength
