This is the second batch of Tomatin's 1988 vintage single malt Scotch whisky, aged for over 25 years in a combination of bourbon barrels and Port pipes. This maturation brings out lots of yummy vanilla and red berry notes, balancing the robust barley and subtle smoke.
I think this is my favourite bottling of the 1988. Sweet fruit balanced by savoury notes and a bit of smoke. It's absolutely delicious! Maybe on the higher end of what I'd like to pay, but outstanding nonetheless.
