Tomatin
Scotland
Single Malt

This 12 year old was released in late 2003 to replace the 10 year old. A medium-bodied single malt from the Tomatin distillery.
Medium-bodied and well-balanced. There are notes of toasted cereals and barley. Hints of winter spice and buttery pepper emanating from the toasty oak. Hints of dark sugar and cut flowers with a note of malt extract, rum and apple peel.
Good body and quite sweet. There are notes of fudge and dark sugar, winter spice and a touch of vinosity, notes of toffee apple and Bramley peel with notes of dried herbs.
Good length with notes of boiled sweets and fruity sweetness.

I found this just to my palate. Smooth and light, with a subtle aftertaste of the mountain peats and streams. I'm English......but this stuff certainly did the trick for me. Sang old scottish battle songs and laments all the way home. I do have Cameron ancestry.Lovely stuff.......I shall be seeking it out.
actually like the dualchas better...
Not Glenlivet...but not bad.
Opened a bottle today. Reminded me of Glenfiddich. Had that sweetness that isnt quite sherry. Dont know how to describe it. Not good. Suffice it to say, disappointing. Doesn't compare to my inexpensive Highland standby, Glenmorangie Original.
Smooth barley malt whisky with some light fruit notes of pear, apple and lemon. Some alcohol harshness is noticed on the first pour here as well: give this one some time to open up. Taste is much like the nose, clean barley malt sugars and light fruitiness with a lovely sherry note. Finish is clean and sweet. A good all-around single malt equally suited to sipping or mixing at a great price. If you like sherried whisky or budget single malts like Speyburn 10, try this. 3.5 stars.
