Cù Bòcan Signature

Tomatin's smoky series of single malts, Cù Bòcan, received a bit of a redesign in mid-2019, receiving new bottles and new expressions - like this one! Cù Bòcan Signature is a lightly peated expression that has been drawn from a trio of casks; bourbon casks, Oloroso sherry casks and North American virgin oak casks. No chill-filtration or additional colours for this one, just fruit-forward, softly smoky whisky.

Why not give this a go in a deliciously smoky take on a Manhattan cocktail? Try out the recipe below!

50ml Cù Bòcan Signature

25ml Sweet vermouth

A dash of Angostura Bitters

Stir the whisky and vermouth together in an ice-filled mixing glass, and add a dash of bitters. Strain using a Hawthorne strainer, into a Nick and Nora glass. For added smoky deliciousness, use a cocktail smoker to infuse some smoke!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Dry and fragrant, with woodsmoke, dried lemon peel and a little vanilla, then orchard fruit and heather honey, with a touch of liquorice.

Palate BBQ char, cooking spices and Conference pear initially, followed by orange peel and hints of leather and espresso.

Finish Muscat grapes, light smoke and a little nuttiness.

Reviews for Cù Bòcan Signature
Nutty
I might be out on a limb here, There is a real underlying nuttiness this dram, almost chewable. Which actually makes it slightly addictive. I may be an outlier...

A whisky that keeps on giving!
Although I’ve had Tomatin before and loved it, I was not prepared for this... An explosion of scents and flavours. I’m getting liquorice on the palate as well as the nose, but this amongst so many wonders that develop as it lingers. A whisky that keeps on giving!

Hits the right note
For its price this has to be one of the very best Highland Whisky's I have consumed. It has that knack of just hitting the right note, particularly in the evening around 9pm. Try it during a quiet moment to really appreciate it. I always have a spare bottle in my cabinet. Enjoy.

Fantastic range of malts
Fantastic! All three of the Cu Bocan malts are now our favourite whiskys since tasting them in Edinburgh 2019 when we visited the Military Tattoo

Peaty whisky at its best
Superb peated whisky which does not over power your taste buds. Very gentle and plenty of sweetness. Hint of smoke appears much later which is beautiful. this is surely my new favourite.

Superb whisky with a hint of peat.
Amazing whisky, love the shape of the bottle and the whisky is superb. Lovely gentle peat giving that warm feel but doesn't put you off with excessive smokey notes. highly recomended.
