We've bottled another deliciously smoky heavily peated single malt from the Isle of Mull's Tobermory distillery! This was distilled on the 17th September 1997 and left to age in a Sherry butt until the 14th October 2016, when it was bottled at cask strength, without any chill-filtration or additional colours.
Massive peat influence - earthy and slightly meaty (think pulled pork and you'll be on the right track), with a hint of rubber too. Rice crispy cakes and mince pies.
Chilli chocolate, mint and raisins. Punchy smoke sits at the centre. A few drops of water unlocks some sweet orchard fruit notes.
Roasted barley, sea salt and lingering Christmas spices.

I was unable to make it to my local whisky club, so they sent me a dram in the bottle when my fiance returned home. It packs an incredibly smoky punch, warming all the way down and is deliciously peaty. I haven't tried it with water as I enjoy it as it is. Definitely a whisky to be having next to a fire on a dreary autumn night. Incredibly happy to have had the chance to sample this.
This is why I go to Cadenhead's.
