Released in early 2019, this 12 year old single malt from Tobermory was launched in celebration of the distillery returning to life after a two year break! This expression slumbered peacefully in American oak casks for a dozen years before being bottled at 46.3% ABV. What a way to get back in the swing of things!
Pear, peach and apple, with a dusting of brown sugar. Greek yogurt, barley and a hint of cinnamon pastries.
Rounded malt notes once again, now a touch oily. Still packs a hearty helping of stone fruit sweetness.
A flash of orange peel, soft sawdust, toffee and dates.
Bought direct from the distillery when during their revamp what a dram what nice folk they are as well with a wealth of knowledge on the history of the distillery

Delicious...great value....all the above tasting notes, plus I get a definite touch of dry hay / wheat on the palate, the taste like when you walk with a nice dry piece of hay or straw in your mouth, just holding it in your lips as you stroll along, so subtle, woody, tall dry grass taste and the whiff of dry hay on the nose, lovely, reminds me of a summer's day in my youth, nearly visible, just out of focus but there...then then the later taste of apples and other fruits become more rounded before the sublime finish, orange peel zest in the air....mmm..really pleased I picked this up on a whim. Superb.
Tobermory delivers yet again. The 10 yo was my “go to” single malt & the new 12 yo is even better, with sweeter, more complex flavours developing on the tongue, along with the salt spray finish I love so much. I’m writing this review in early December & I just hope that this year Santa puts a bottle of this with my name on it on his sleigh!
