A brilliantly smoky Ledaig, the name for the peated expressions from the Tobermory Distillery! This particular limited edition bottling was distilled in December 1997, and filled into refill hogsheads for the majority of its ageing. In May 2016, it was transferred to casks which previously held Manzanilla sherry for the rest of its days. It was bottled at 21 years old at 52.9% ABV, with just 1,553 bottles released. Complex, fruity and slightly medicinal, this one.
Orange peel, vanilla oak and sweet peat, with melted brown sugar, plump raisin and vanilla fudge.
Black pepper leads into more sweet, smoky notes, with dark fruit and nut chocolate, orange oil and a slightly medicinal notes.
Spiced orange and aromatic peat lingers with a hint of salted caramel.
