This is a superb smoky single malt from the Tobermory distillery, released under the Ledaig name (as all their peated expressions are). It was distilled in 1997 and matured in a single cask until 2016, when Italian bottler Samaroli came along and bottled the whisky at 45% ABV. Only 330 bottles were produced.
Toasted teacakes with slated butter, incense, a hint of tarry ropes.
More fruit-forward than the nose, with grilled lemon and fresh pear developing. Still enjoyably coastal.
A salty tang lingers on the finish.
