Ahh, Ledaig! A cracking single malt that proves Islay isn't the only place to get your hands on splendidly peaty whisky - the Tobermory distillers on the Isle of Mull also know their way around peated malt for sure. This is the 18 Year Old Ledaig single malt, which offers up hearty phenols, smoky herbs, cracked black pepper and balancing waves of sherry-soaked fruit. Excellent stuff.
Honey, baked earth with a hint of mineraly smoke, very slightly chocolatey. Orange oil and tropical fruit juice in the background.
Grassy peat with sea breeze in tow, almond butter, lemon zest, biscuit dough, honeydew melon.
Toasted barley and salty liquorice.

When you have been drinking whisky for a long time, it gets harder to find bottles that give you a special malt moment. This bottle however did just that. One of those whiskies where you think ‘wow that’s nice stuff’. A delicate balance of the peat with this sweet butterscotch note. It’s smooth and delicious. One of the best 18yr olds on the market without a doubt. There is one bad thing though… it’s so drinkable that the bottle goes down pretty damn quick. Guess I’ll have to purchase another!
one of the great malts of this age. Powerful with intriguing, 46% is perfection.
I’ve always rather liked Ledaig whiskies from Tobermory and this one certainly doesn’t disappoint. The smokiness is not overdone and combines well with a fruity, peppery and spicy taste. One of my all time favourites.
Most extravagant purchase I've made in whisky but very happy and the bottle didn't last long. Caresses the neck, sends you to a quite, warm and calm place. Very, very nice.
In a word: Braw!
