“$89 bucks is a steal for this bottle. I got one and loved it so much I ordered another. It is an apperitif desert scotch rather than a daily dram but it serves its purpose quite well. The box is really cool as well as the bottle. An all around delicious and classic "sherry bomb" as it is called by some. This scotch really has the depth of character that I was hoping for. It delivers the goods, so to speak.”

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose

Medium-bodied and rich. There are notes of sultanas and Oloroso sherry, lemon and orange peels with feinty, honeyed cigar box hints with requisite smoke rising gently.

Palate

Full-bodied with notes of sherried peels and winter spice, crème de cacao and peppery oak.

Finish

Long and spicy with notes of walnut and salty melted butter.

An unusual whisky worth trying

Quite a unique whisky which has a sulphuric bite in the nose, which alarmed me, but which does not translate over to the palate or finish in anyway. The nose is nice, complex, quite a lot going on and worth spending a minute or two on. The palate is really good but I have found, after having the bottle opened for a few weeks, that it is even better now. There was a grassy, earthiness that was over powering it - that has now mellowed and there is a wonderful cacaphony of flavor. The finish is medium but really runs with the dry, nutty flavor present. It's good, though a little pricey if you can still find it. Worth finding a bottle.

My Favorite Scotch

This is an absolutely lovely whisky. Slightly sweet and just a hint of smokiness. I have bought two bottles over the years. I had no problems with it going bad on the shelf even after several years. My guess is people are storing it someplace that gets hot. Now, if I could just find more in the States. *sigh*

Brilliant A++++++++

This is one of the best scotches EVER! I desperately would like another. Taste is absolutely fulfilling, from sweet to tang & back again. Is there anyone out there with an unmolested bottle? ??????

Very Good, Complex, Island Character

I like this whisky a lot. It has a satisfying complexity of flavors, especially including the somewhat disturbing mineral/oceanic ineffables I so esteem in whiskies from the Western Isles. However, I totally get why scotch lovers of various stripes would not. It starts out like a "sherry bomb" as one commenter described it below, but it spent time aging in the western isles, and it has some of that wild west character lurking just below the surface. If you're firmly in one camp or the other, this scotch could totally clash with your sensibilities. In riposte to those who say is has too many flavors crammed in there, I'm reminded of the criticism of Mozart, that he used too many notes.

Same experience

I had the same experience as the guy below. My bottle went flat and awful after about 4 months open. And only about 5 drams in. I thoought it was just my taste, but the review below describes it very accurately. This has never happened to any of my whiskies before, even after one year open. Is there any explanation?
