    Single Malt

    Tobermory 10 Year Old - Pre 2019

A gentle, affable 10 year old single malt from the Tobermory distillery on the Isle of Mull. Now at the higher strength of 46.3%...

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Barley sugars and toasted cereal, supported by hints of winter spice and soft oak. Salty melted butter and ground ginger develop.

    Palate

Quite sweet and light. There are elements of acacia honey and continuing oak from the nose. Smoke and black pepper notes rise gently with a touch of dried fruit and peels. A flash of cinnamon later on.

    Finish

Long and herbal with a touch of pepper.

    Good drop

Has a good taste and for price point is good value, lighter than some of the island malts and a good introduction. Good way to start your island journey. Overall a decent drop and more complex than most at this price point, move to the 15 for better flavour and depth but also deeper pockets needed,

    A different Islander

Never had the old one so cannot compare it. Not my first Island foray, but definitely different. Flavours were not over-complex, good for a new Island sampler like me. Quite floral on the nose and almost grass-like. Taste is short but peppery like Talisker though with more smoke like Jura/Islay malts - a quite unique blend. Finish is pleasant and sea-salty, almost akin to Oban. All in all a very nice and surprisingly complex malt at this price.

    Good quality for your money

Very enjoyable and reasonably prized whisky. Definitely a recommended one.

    Opened the bottle last night

So the night started well... Laddie 16, onto Port Charlotte 10 then Octomore 2.1... Absolutely fantastic. A couple of hours later we had a hankering for something else too. So with clean palates we opened the Tobermory and we were really impressed. It doesn't have the punch or full character of the Islay malts, but very nice. Very clean and fresh. Will be getting through the bottle before long!

    Perfect

Such a smooth dram, just got it for my 21st and I couldn't be happier. The little hint of smoke is gorgeous!
