The Woodsman is a blended Scotch whisky from Whyte & Mackay (owners of Dalmore, Fettercairn, Jura and Tamnavulin), designed for use in cocktails and mixed drinks. Particularly oak-y, as you might expect from the name, with plenty of vanilla and nutty malt notes in tow. Nothing to do with Justin Timberlake's album Man of the Woods.
Sandalwood, honey, almond slices and sawdust.
Creamy vanilla, ginger root, slight grain sweetness.
A touch of smoke underneath spearmint and cinnamon.
Been drinking this for some time usualy used to drink single malts (dalwinnie) but for the price £18 you cant go wrong
Because this has been blended to mix, I wasn't sure, as a neat drinker. But, it is pleasant, warm, I don't get the smoke that others do, but hey, I do like it, straight out of the freezer! I have moved away from vodkas, so a nice bottle shaped hole has appeared in drawer three!! This is ace when ice cold and neat. I won't get all snobby with tasting notes! It's a decent drink, not as harsh as Bells or Teachers, but had a smoothness that will appeal to newbies, or those just wanting to move on from vodka and gin. I like it. I have a broad pallette, from Glen Ellen to Glen Morangie, and lots in between, so I am no snob. Get it cold, get it on a mix if you want, but get it down your neck!! A really nice whisky!
One of the nicest whiskeys I have tasted at the discounted £18 price point. At full price (around £10 more) I’d not buy it. Plenty of better options. An unexpectedly pleasant blended though and I will buy more at that price.
Actually just bought it fo £18 coop Probably was in deal but it is a lovely one
Just like hundreds of other whiskies and indestinguishable from them.
