From The Sample Room Sweet & Smoky - The Cooper's Choice (The Vintage Malt Whisky Co.)
The folks at The Vintage Malt Whisky Co. have created a wonderful blended malt here, released as part of The Cooper's Choice independent bottle range. This expression combines single malts from 15 distillers, making use of the company's huge liquid archive. The likes of Caol Ila, Bunnahabhain, Laphroaig, Mortlach, and Benrinnes are blended with others, married, and finished in a sherry cask – hence the Sweet & Smoky name on the label. Wonderful stuff, this is a real treat and a fabulous amalgamation of The Cooper's Choice collection.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Pungent peat smoke, earthen with wafts of dried fruits and seaweed.
Palate
Lingering smoke, oily tar, and coastal breeze meet smoked herbs, sherried raisins, dates, and rich, malty oak.
Finish
Smoky with vegetal peat and harbourside aroma, combined with rich fruit cake and candied orange.
