    Drumshanbo Single Pot Still

It's the wonderful Drumshanbo Single Pot Still Irish whiskey! Crafted over at The Shed Distillery, you'll find malted Irish barley, unmalted Irish barley and Irish Barra oats in this one. It's triple distilled before being matured in a combination of Kentucky bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, making for a glorious balance of cream and spice.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Creamy rice pudding and vanilla initially, with toasted oats and classic pot still spice, leading into chocolate-coated raisin.

    Palate

Fruitcake and melted milk chocolate, followed by creamy orange curd and buttered scone.

    Finish

A warming finish of chilli heat and caramelised nuts.

    Disappointing

Have tried this and the Marsala Cask edition which retails in Ireland for 80 EUR. Very sweet and spicy but lacking in depth and body - really disappointing. Doesn't hold a candle to other singles at the same price point (RB12, Green Spot, John's Lane etc.). Rooting for the smaller Irish distilleries (especially Leitrim ones), but they're still miles off the big boys. Their gin is great, though.

    Fantastic

If you had Redbreast 12 (non cask strength version) and you though it could use that extra ABV, then look no further. Drumshanbo is a NAS, but delicate and well-rounded. Choc and raisin pudding on the nose, caramel, spice and milk choc on the palate and choc, cream and vanilla on the finish. I also have to mention the quality presentation of the box and the bottle - it definitely does put more expensive bottles to shame. I've only seen that sort of effort in Bladnoch series.

    My "go to"

Go to after a long day. Smooth, easy drinker and great value. You can definitely get the sherry cask, puts many a more expensive bottle to shame.

    Delicious dram well worth buying

Beautiful, smooth, and creamy but rich and lasting. One of the most delicious drama I've had in a long while. Tried it on my Pour and Sip subscription earlier this year. Buying my 3rd bottle.
