The Sassenach is the first whisky launched by Sam Heughan (who you may know as the actor who plays Jamie Fraser on hit sci-fi TV show Outlander), inspired by picturesque Highland landscapes. Expect waves of butterscotch, fresh citrus and warming spices from this tasty blended Scotch whisky.
Fresh apricot and orange, with a drizzle of caramel and a slow build of cinnamon.
Waves of honey and vanilla fudge, dotted with raisin, almond and another helping of cinnamon spiciness.
Lasting nutmeg, citrus oils and toffee.
A dram of the 'Sassenach' was offered to me recently. Be warned good people out there, this 'so called' manufactured whisky, is bland & non descript. In my humble view (and it is only an opinion), the tasting notes on this whisky have been completely fabricated & hyped up by self serving marketing folk and those with overblown egos. The calibre of it felt thin, watered down, lacking in flavour, disappointingly low abv and goes no where near justifying the extraordinarily offensive retail asking price. Best to try something else which is far better, more substantial, honestly priced and which has integrity.

There seem to be a lot of "women of a certain age", who have never touched whisky before, buying this. Hmmmmm I wonder why??? Expensive for a blend. Will spend my cash on a decent single malt and not let my hormones drive my whisky purchasing.
Sassenach Scotch Whisky is just so amazing. It is no wonder it has won gold so many times, smooth, lovely, just like Sam. I don't think the outcome from the German judge was fair and he lost the name to Sasse. However, the whiskey should continue under a new name and please, don't change the bottle it is so cool. I bought the Tequila as well, and so glad he is continuing to develop other liquors, hope he does gin next, but the bottles are amazing, so please do a unique shape. Love it.
