Happy Birthday to The Oxford Artisan Distillery! This rye whisky was released to mark its 5th anniversary, a cask strength expression that follows its house mash bill of 70% heritage rye, 20% wheat, and 10% malted barley. It's called Purple Grain because, after two years in American oak casks, it moved to purple moscatel casks to mature for another year and two months, imparting plenty of nutty, dried fruit character to the rye spice.
Meadow herbs alongside juicy berries, dried prunes, and aromatic spices.
Nutty grains, with sticky malt loaf, and drizzles of caramel.
Peppery rye character builds, with buttered brioche.
